My wife and I share a 7 year old car. Some times it makes for compromises but its fine. Usually it is not a big deal, but lately it is getting more complicated. Thinking of getting a really old second car to drive into the ground.
Ours was uglier and a 2 door
It got me thinking of all the cars I have owned and what happened to them. I like to buy old cars, cause we are not great with cars.
Once my wife got into a car accident without even starting the car. She took the parking break off and the car rolled out of the garage almost taking the whole car door off. How do you explain that to the police, “officer in our defense the garage does smell like booze.“
It reminded me of a time my wife bought a car on her own. I was traveling and she told me she saw a white Land Rover for a great price. She told me the price and the year and I said buy it. I got home and there was a white Ford Explorer in our driveway.
Me: what was that
Wife: A Rover
Me: No that is a Ford Explorer
Wife: Explorer, Rover, what is the difference?
In her defense it did not matter, she totaled that truck the next day.

1991 bought a 1984 Datsun pickup-1992 Shipped to Ecuador
1992 bought a 1988 Ford Escort-sold in 1996 to Benjie Wheeler for 500
1997 bought a 1988 Mazda 626- Someone hit me head-on, totaled (and I was laid up 2 weeks)
1997 bought a 1985 Mazda pickup-sold in 2000 to my brother for 1k
1998 got a 1985 Caravan- it died in 2000
1999 got a 1989 Mitsubishi Gallant- gave it away to someone from our church
1998 got a 1984 Dodge Omni (for $25)- fixed it up- died in 2001
2001 got a 1996 Eagle Summit at the junkyard, fixed it up- died in 2003
2001 got a 1988 Honda Accord- 2002 gave it away to a friend
(Moved to Europe-lived in UK, wife lived in Sweden)
2002 got a 1999 Peugeot 607-drove on the wrong side of the road in the UK-totaled it.
2002 got a 1998 Vauxhall Vectra – was a company car gave it back when I left
2002 got a 1985 Audi Quattro –wife totaled it on a snowy night
2002 got a 1986 Audi Quattro- gave it to a family friend when we left Sweden
(Moved back to States)
2003 got a 1991 Acura Integra- it died a month later, maybe the worst car I owned and that is saying something.
2003 got a 1990 Mercury Sable- it died 2004
2003 got a 1991 Buick Lasabre – sold it for 1k
2004 got a 1996 Ford Explorer –wife totaled it the same week
2004 got a 1995 Toyota Camry- wife totaled it in 2008
2003 got a NEW 2003 Mazda Protégé –totaled when someone ran a light in 2009
2008 got a 2002 Mazda Protégé – 2010 sold it to a friend, who never paid
2009 got a 2005 Scion XB – Still have it.
So if you have an old cheap car you want to get rid of let me know, I am in the market for a car to destroy.
