I am a little hard of hearing.  If I am in a noisy room I hear noise, but sometimes I can’t make out exactly what is being said.

I was in a crowded room with a friend of mine and I made him repeat something twice.  He got really annoyed.  It made me think.  I was not being deaf to make him angry.

That is some people’s opinion on the handicapped.  That people are being disabled to annoy them.

When people are mean to me and my autistic son in public I always want to say, my son is not being autistic to piss you off.

Something to remember when you have to wait for the bus to lower for someone in a wheel chair, they are not in a wheel chair just to make you late to work.

Same is true of the homeless.

Some people beg to work the system, yes.  But some people are actually in dire straits.

Some people are homeless or destitute for a number of reasons, illness, circumstance, or often mental illness.

There is a lady who begs at Hunts Point (south Bronx).  People like to yell at her to get a job, but she clearly has mental problems and very little education.  I doubt anyone would want to hire her.  She is not being a derelict to make you angry, raise your taxes or take your last quarter.

She is trying to survive.  To eat.  To exist.

Not everyone is out to get you.  Some people are suffering and they aren’t doing it to make you angry.
